About Us:
Nickangula is a design company owned by husband-and-wife team Nick and Angela. The name came from a nickname our friend Hunter came up with for us because we have done pretty much everything together since we started dating in high school back in 2001.
We are both creative people who enjoy trying new things, and working on things together, so this company is a blend of the random creative projects we come up with. Products may be from one of us or both of us, depending on what they are.
The clothing side of things is mostly Angela, who went to Cazenovia College to study fashion design. Designing anything and everything is her passion, but clothing is her favorite thing to design. Angela’s style is offbeat, colorful, eclectic, and maximalist. She is very inspired by geek culture and fandom, being a major geek herself. Angela is working to expand her fashion design career to include more handmade apparel through her fashion label Faceless By Design. Through this she has participated in geek couture fashion shows including Geekbound Fashion Challenge, RVA Heroes Geek Chic Gala, and was a finalist in the pinnacle of geek couture – The Her Universe Fashion Show at San Diego Comic Con in 2024. She also organizes an online showcase of geek fashion with other members of the geek fashion community through The Geek Fashion Week: www.instagram.com/thegeekfashionweek
Nick is a master of all things he puts his mind to. He is great at figuring out how things work, and quickly becomes an expert at everything he tries. He is the main puppet builder, and juggles puppet building alongside his regular full-time job. He has built dozens of puppets, including some for a Fortune 500 company, a USA Today-owned YouTube channel, a labor union, and most recently a coffee company’s mascot. Nick has also picked up quite a bit of knowledge and skill in the area of fashion design, often helping Angela brainstorm designs and even assisting in construction of Angela’s geek couture runway looks! Nick is also the handsome stormtrooper TK-5246 featured on many of Angela’s designs!
